Nanjing is a thriving and growing city of over 8 million people, the capital city of the Jiangsu Province in East China. Nanjing is one of China’s few truly international cities, with a thriving expatriate community of around 20,000 people. It lies within China’s subtropical monsoon climate zone and enjoys four distinct seasons with an average temperature in the summer months of 30°. Spring and Autumn are the most comfortable seasons, and this is when most people can be found outdoors in parks, lakes and hiking paths – enjoying the breathtaking burst of colour from the pink and white blossom in the numerous plum orchards.
Nanjing has a lively nightlife scene, numerous shopping malls and a wide range of restaurants to suit all tastes. Sporting fixtures regularly take place in the city and there are mountains and hot springs within easy reach.
